The first song I remember that gave me chills while actively listening was "Spread Your Wings" from Queen - News of the World



More recently I was pleasantly surprised to come across this group of youngsters playing with some real heart... Phox "Slow Motion" & "Blue and White" in a live performance which is very good!

A whole bunch of songs give me the chills. These 2 came to mind first.





. . . . . Back again cause I just remembered this one.

In this song the narrator is a puritanical and deranged woman, who caught her daughter screwing around, murdered her, and then dumped her body in the river.


While the lyrics indicate she recognizes no personal moral culpability, and maintains that what she had done was right, she is driven insane by anguish. At the end of the song she is chanting to the fish swimming in the river, imploring them to bring back her daughter.

This song is about a couple who strap their two children into the back seat of the car and go murder them, the song begins with the narration of one of the kids as he realizes what's about to happen. The pace and tone of the song is bizarrely matched, yet somehow works--as it reflects the mind of an innocent child trying to process what's about to happen.

The second part of the song is some sort of prayer/meditation about God and finding comfort in the divine afterlife....

Guy is scoping out and narrating to little girl he's about to rape and kill.

What makes this song creepy-as opposed to just horrifying-is that it's a cello based ballad type tune....

Mom's dead. Daddy is coming up the stairs to rape his little daughter, as he did many nights before.

She reflects while waiting, she reflects during, she reflects and questions why God lets this happen as her Daddy falls into a deep sleep at her side,... Rough stuff.
