So to be social..My girlfriend signs me up to work EVENT STAFFING for Virginia Tech football games..To get me out of the house..So during the GT @ VT game she goes tailgating with her sister & brother in-law..Well she looses the vehicle..So.. I wander around sidestreets for 3 hours..But beside this chinese food place & a laundry..I find a small little music store....I'm thinkin Aria...Peavey..Samick..Fender a couple of Epi's ..the usual suspects for rural America..But NOOOOOOOO .But let me ste-back for a moment..In the past several months I've been able to hold off salesmen at little hole in the wall shops ..By mentioning..I play Warwicks..This was not the case today...I had found Mecca in Blacksburg..ROCKET MUSIC...This place had no less then 20 Warwick basses..GERMAN built basses..and 3-4 rock-basses.And this product had no dust settling on it..Custom one-off pieces..Limiteds..Hellborgs..The NEW Star basses by Warwick..My girlfriend saw the look in my gaze..If I mentioned Warwick..the salespeople could reply NT,SN, Bolt-on.Fretted..Fretless 4,5,6,8 or 12 ??Passive,Active 2,3 band EQ?And that was before even mentioning models ..I would have been ROCKET's bitch..So I kept silent.I wont even get into the Suhr guitars.I think they had a red-phone directly to John.More then Rudy carried back in the day.I was old school Pensa-Suhrs..48th. Street Custom ESP's..they had SUHR..'sMore than that joint on Gardner & Sunset in Hollywood. And PRS out the door ...The only thing they didn't carry was drums...I'd imagine if they did..They'd carry the full SQ2 Series of SONOR..with at least 2 full Steve Smith from Journey fame signature kits in the window..Heads up ROCKET MUSIC...H.S.S is in Richmond..Get SONOR & SABIAN to round out your store.. I grew up on Long Island..Lived in L.A for over a decade..Toured as a musician & Tech all over the world...These guys have selection..They also know Roger Pinto...Whom was a teacher & electrical Guru at Five Clownes College in the day , whom can service & repair just about any backline product. If you live in SouthWest Virginia..this is the place.

GO HOKIES

Dang, thanks for the kind words!!! I hope we had a chance to talk - did we meet?

We're very fortunate to be able to squeak out a living doing something we love. I spent 15 years as a rat in a cage (telecom programmer, middle-manager, etc.). It's such a joy now to be able to come to work and spend my day either gabbing with folks about gear, ordering gear, shipping gear, or teaching or practicing bass. We couldn't do that without the internet and our friends and customers at TalkBass, TheGearPage, and the Warwick forum.

Anyway, I really appreciate you recognizing what you walked into and taking the time to post about it. I couldn't have written a better description of our store myself :)

Come on..no VAI terms allowed ???GEM was a crappy line of Gibson Les Pauls...that rivaled the Gibson Sonex

I actually wondered if it was a Vai ref, but given the depth of ignorance I often stumble upon here(oftentimes my own :))I just took it as a chance to go all spell-Nazi. I'll put my jackboots away now...
Oh- and thank you for the Gibson info and(on-topic alert)the bit on Rocket Music. They look good, now we know.

Greg ...I met Dan ..Unless you were the guy helping a kid with a black bass-drum in the floor???? I tell ya..Anybody can throw up some stock archival photos from a manufacturer . Rocket was like walking into the custom shop archives on the Warwick site ...and Bassists ..if you have a guitarists that is into PRS ,G&L & Suhr ..if they don't have the model..You don't need it .Greg ..I noticed you had a Thumb-Bass on another post with Joe Bardens ....Are those the same pickups that are on that 84-86 5-string Thumb bass on the wallpaper on the Warwick site..they kinda look like O.B.L 's for bass ??

Here's my Thumb NT with the Bardens. They're humbucking rails... and they kick butt!

Ya..Grew up on Lawn-Guy Land (Long Island) ..Have to throw in a Vai,Petrucci or Satriani reference every 1000 words typed..It's the law..Sorry . I'm just glad we don't have to mention Bruno Revell replaced Billy Sheehan in Talas in bass forums anymore ....Yes that was a Danger Danger reference ...digging deep
