A world without money? Everything is free?

Yes, I think everything should be free. For everybody!. We could all live in 36-bedroom, gazillion-dollar mansions. Our "beater" car is a Bentley!! LOL. Our housekeepers no longer require payment for their services. Hey, they just love to clean houses, right?.. Hospital visits? Freee!!! The doctors no longer require payment. They're just so damn happy that you'll allow them to provide you quality health care!!

.....and then we wake up. :mad:

This guy (in the video link) is so incredibly disconnected from reality, its laughable.

It would be better presented in cartoon format, imo.

Yes the idea is pretty Utopian but your criticism doesn't hold weight. You wouldn't have a house keeper because they would theoretically have their own house and resources to live off of. Gazillion dollar mansions and Bentleys wouldn't exist probably because they are wasteful and impractical unless of course 30 or more people lived in the mansion. Put some thought into it and everybody at least having free shelter, food, energy, and other resources required for living isn't impractical. Just not likely. Luxury items like instruments would be hard to figure out in such a world because naturally everybody would want luxury items.

Human evolution followed the evolution of violence. Being a hunter gatherer requires a prey drive. When we as evolutionary beings evolved to the place where we could decide to use the prey drive in a manner other than sustenance... well there is no turning back is there? Morals are used to keep keep the prey drive reigned in, but it will never go away. It's who and what we are.

Actually, I want a world with money. I manage money better than most people and have no debt. I also have a nice house and some nice things that I earned by working hard and making good decisions.

Take away money and then my net worth would be reduced to the "average". I don't want to be average.

In a world without money. I'd have a couple custom shop Fodera 6 strings, a few custom Warwick thumbs with 6-7 strings fretted and fretless, a full wood shop, ampeg SVT pro with an ampeg 8x10 and last but not least a 7 round .12 gauge shotgun to defend is all if anyone gets past the 3 inch thick steel doors, concrete walls and blast proof windows. I'd call the place fort NOT.

So your monetary worth and material possessions define you? I'd rather have an "average" net worth and be the cool human being that I am and have all the things money can't buy. Money didn't buy my musical talent, my wife, my kids, my friends, my songs, my body, etc. Yeah, I like my nice stuff too but I'm too much of a humanist to say I like my stuff and my net worth too much so everyone who doesn't even stand a chance at having what I have is just going to have to suffer.

Having more than another person is not only about greed.

Lets say that in a flash, there is a massive nuclear holocaust, and all money systems are wiped out. Everyone gets to start over with an equal plot of land. The hard workers and smarter people are eventually going to produce more crops (read wealth) than others.

There will never be equality and who even knows if that's a good thing.
