This might be a bit difficult to explain but here goes. Alongside my bass I also use a Mellotron m4000D. I put them both through my bass amp via a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer because the amp only has one input. But sometimes I'd like to put the bass straight through to the amp. Without unplugging anything. preferably. So I want a double a/b switch as it were - when I press it I want to switch out the mixer input AND output and go straight to the amp. I could do it with two stomp box A/B switchers but that's two devices muddying the path when I want maximum clarity.

Any bypass loop will do that just fine.

Thanks! Just didn't know the name of what I was looking for. I've only got in to gadgets quite recently - for the last 30-odd years I've just plugged the bass into the amp and played

In this scenario does the mixer serve any purpose besides running both instruments into the amp one at a time? That is, why not just use any single A/B switcher, and leave the mixer out? Do you ever play both instruments at once, where you'd need a mixer and not a switch?

I started out that way, but there is a lot of difference between the bass output and the Mellotron output and I can just set up the mixer to deal with it and still have full use of the controls on the instruments, as it were. Bear in mind I'm only experimenting at the moment - I may end up discarding all the extras and go back to the simple switch. Especially since not having three hands there's only a very limited amount I can do with both at the same time, basically fading one into the other.
