ABG high C alternatives?

First, I do realize that I am a minority in seeking this specific sound, but we all have our own tastes ;)

Most people hate the sound of bronze strings that you get on an ABG, however, I have an ABG that is strung EADGC and I just can't replicate that sound on any of my other basses.

I would love to find something that would give me the same tones (especially on the High C) but without the hassle of the ABG (i.e: feedback, oversized body etc.).

I have tried a few semi-hollow basses but I haven't owned one for any length of time to experiment with different strings, pickups etc.

I was thinking that maybe a semi-hollow with a piezo added may be a step in the right direction, but due to space (and funds) I would rather not jump down that rabbit hole without at least some idea of where I am heading, so why not ask the collective wisdom that is TB ;)

BTW, I am open to other ideas such as effects etc. but selling my house, divorcing my family and buying a gold P bass is not really the route I am looking to take :D

I don't know what ABG you're playing, but if it's a jumbo body, perhaps a thin body would be a bit more comfortable, with less feedback. You could also get a sound hole cover to reduce feedback.

I've long since come to the conclusion that if I want the tone of my Takamine B10, I have to deal with its size.

The ABG I have is nothing great, it's just something about the higher register notes with bronze strings that I like. To be honest, the strings aren't even that new, so there isn't really much sustain either.

I was looking for an Ovation style bass at one time (round back), but I couldn't find a 5 that didn't have too many digits on the price tag :D

Can't vouch for its quality [never held/seen/heard one, never read a review], but this one is inexpensive:
