I don't really have one kind of music I listen to. So, this week I'll say Leland Sklar. I don't think he puts himself into a genre box either.

I am all over the place on what I listen to. Not much on country, opera or show tunes.

I've got big ears, and I like a wide variety of styles and genres of music. You could find me listening to a hot Bluegrass band as readily as me spinning some Artic Monkeys or old Black Sabbath, and on to some Wooten or Pastorius, and I'm an old fart baby boomer with a love for many of the great artists of my generation. It's obvious that my influences as a musician are grounded in the music of my youth. For me, I've never been into rap or hip hop, and I could care less about whatever happens to be the youth pop music fad flavor of the week, yet I do keep my years open if some new band or artist comes up with music that will catch my fancy. I'm just a music fan in general, fairly open minded, but like everyone I have my likes and dislikes.

I always been a rocker/metalhead, and admire Dave Ellefson's style of pick playing.

i listen to pretty much everything, but no country and new 'pop' music, i can't stand it. but i primarily listen to alternative/punk, metal, and reggae. Metal bassist would be Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne. Reggae would be Eric Wilson of Sublime. And alternative/punk would either be Tim C of Rage Against the Machine which I guess would be alternative/metal maybe? And or Mike Dirnt of Green Day

Progressive Rock, Art Rock, Classical Rock anything that carries a melodic tune are my strongest points and styles. Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull are some of my favorites. Chris Squire had the most influence on my playing style.
