About the Youtube subscriber count...

I have made my opinion (a strong one) about my question on the Youtube subscriber count of bass players on Youtube.

Let's take a VERY prolific and multitasking our own TB member, JLoch86.
We have TAB, we have a standard notation, with visible fingering .

Subscribers - 883.

We have a seriously PRO, and also a TB member, Joe Hubbard.
Very interesting and important bass lessons from a Pro Bass player.

Subscribers - 3,011.

Let's cut to the chase.

Let's take a look at a "Youtube sensation" - a bass player - Marta Altesa.
NO LESSONS!
NO TAB!
NO STANDARD NOTATION!
But...

Subscribers - 255,160.
(P.S. Views also - 7,783,224(!???...))

Could ANYBODY explain to me that very UNUSUAL PHENOMENON of the SUBSCRIPTION count?
Are you, the bass players getting MORE INFO from Marta's Youtube Channel?
What's in that INFO???

people who watch YouTube would rather be entertained by an attractive young woman playing than take a class on how to read music or learn music theory.
People like looking at pretty girls.

I would NEVER have guessed. Very interesting indeed.

This one has a higher subscription count:

The plot thickens...

Everybody can understand and estimate what she is doing.

Does Marta in her videos SHOWS more info (more understanding) than JLoch86 with TAB's and sheet notes?

Is she trying to educate or to entertain?

You're comparing apples and oranges.

The guys probably signed up with the idea to provide information.

The girls probably signed up to look pretty, get subs and generate ad revenue.

Am I getting some "strange" vibes that you are saying that
amateur/beginner bass players are MORE about "to be entertained" than to be in the LEARNING process?

Sarcasm isn't easily detectable in written format. Just so we're clear, you do understand that more people will like the pretty girl than the informative guy, right? I'm not sure where you're going with this.

There are no vibes. Youtube, for many, is a business, and for many more, entertainment. I'm sure some people are looking for information, but the majority just want to lol and stare at boobies.

I'm saying you're being spectacularly thick. Assuming you're serious.

OK.
I understand the "entertainment" factor for those YouTube viewers, who like to WATCH something else, but...

We have a SPECIAL THREAD for Marta Altesa here at TB in the BASSISTS forum.
We don't have Joe Hubbard thread or Mark Smith, or JLoch86 threads, etc..., but we have a thread dedicated to Marta...

Are we, the TB members so "mesmerized"?

You're the only one making a fuss. Are you mesmerized?

You don't spend much time on TB do you. TBers love to objectify women, much like most of the male population. If you come to a site that hosts "hot chick" and "I back a hot singer babe" threads you have to expect this kind of behaviour.

Yes to all that but it's even simpler than it seems. People prefer pretty girls. It's been tested and demonstrated in people of all ages and genders and sexual orientations. People are more inclined to pay attention to, listen to, and like attractive women. It's just how it is.
