Somewhat related to this subject is this amazing young guitarist, she has 500k plus subscribers on her channel of amazing covers:



Mostly metal and some classical but damn does she shred, I think she was 17 for that video. So talent does pay off sometimes.

So, why does Glenn from Spectre Sound Studios have 180,000 subscribers? He doesn't teach you songs, he's not a pretty woman, and he comes off as an overbearing jerk even when he may say something right. I would much rather watch JLoch86's videos. But it could be that people on youtube like hearing snotty rants about gear and the music industry, and it could be that youtube, like music, is not a meritocracy.

Not everybody is interested in learning bass nor do they want to be instructed.

A pretty woman is a perennially popular subject when it comes to visual appreciation. I was told there's some um…"very fit" young woman (don't know who or I'd post a link) who does shows where she tries on different swimsuits, and gives her editorial opinion on each. And her channel has something like a half million subscribers.

FWIW, these days I'd probably rather watch the pretty girl. I don't really need more instruction, tip, tricks, techniques to try, or gear reviews.

What I really need to do from a bass player's perspective is to practice and play out more.

I don't know or care anything about the videos you've linked to or the people who made them other than this: There is entertainment content and there is educational content. The two are different and trying to compare them as if they were the same makes you look foolish.

Saying one person is "true" or whatever the opposite of that is sounds like something a group of 13 year olds would debate in the cafeteria at lunch time.

@Whousedtoplay what's the point of this thread? It's clear why attractive female musicians have more subscribers.
They're doing nothing wrong and deserve no criticism for what they're posting. Guys posting highly informative videos aren't "owed" any more subscribers or views either. So what are you trying to get out of this?

Thus far it just sounds like you don't think the attractive females deserve the audience they're getting.
