It's irritating that people used to try to keep women from being musicians by saying women couldn't play or didn't belong, and now they pick out women who are successful as musicians by insinuating that they don't deserve it.

Some bassists are YouTube viewers, but not all YouTube viewers are bassists. If all those pretty girl views were from bassists, then music stores would have more money.

People can earn a living off click revenue, which is helped by subscription and view counts. Many subscribers and viewers are bots which can be bought.

I doubt it's the "guys like looking at a pretty gir" factor as much as some think. If you're connected to the Internet, there are better ways to see more stimulating stuff, even on YouTube.

Now, please tell me how JLoch86 videos with TAB, Chords, Standard Notation, an accentuated bass-line (even I can hear it) has 288.969 times few subscribers?

You know what, on a closer inspection she looks to have only came on tour with them. That video came up with Marta on bass in my google but I am thinking it read a side bar. I can find a picture of her doing the soundcheck in Venezuela but I cannot find anything of her actually hitting the stage with the band. I did a skim of the Santiago video and I didn't see her on stage. Maybe I missed her?

I can, and I'm sure quite a few TB members know that I can post numerous videos with my favorite bass-players (female) as I've done in the past.
And I truly respect those hard working excellent bass-players.

Gender aside, I am a bass player. I will watch dozens of videos of good players (cute or not) and never ever watch a lesson video.

Also, should all vocalists post singing lesson videos rather than simply posting good videos of themselves singing? Should motorcycle enthusiasts watch only videos that train you in how to break down an engine or should they be allowed to watch videos of people doing sick tricks on bikes (again, cute or not).

Those ladies can play. And I'm not watching YouTube to get laid. If I watch a whole video of theirs it's because they kept my interest with their chops. I watch tons of guys playing bass too. Does that mean I'm attracted to them?

I dismiss your whole premise. Watch what you like. If you need online lessons, take them. I don't. I watch YouTube videos for pure entertainment. If I watch the whole video it's because I was entertained the whole time. Does it bother me that those kick A players are cute? Nope. But it doesn't bother me that Chris Squire and Stanley Clark and @adamnitti are NOT cute to me. I will watch their whole video too. (OK, I admit it. Adam is a good looking guy. But still..... If I'm watching his video it's because the dude can flat out play.)

I think you are trying to misinterpret my words, and here is why.
My comment was only and only a response to a very knowledgeable TB member's comment about "pirating" Flea's DVD; therefore,
I've asked a question if playing somebody else's creation/bass-line is, "kind of" pirating as well.
But...
I've never meant to say that only a composer could be a real bassist. Never!

It's the same thing when I posted a comment about two melons - not apples and oranges, some of our TB members decided to "abandon the ship" (and it's in the Winter)

Sorry you were misintepreted. Maybe try communicating more effectively.

I've listened carefully to Marta's playing/transcription of her interpretation of Dirty Loops - Circus bass line, and
I have a very good vision/opinion about Marta's playing. I'm being very diplomatic.

It looks very nice visually, but, just by watching, her hands - fretting/slapping - I have some questions.
I'll check it at a slow/very slow tempo and compare it to the original.

So this is it? In addition to dragging some innocent female bassists under the bus who did nothing wrong to get their audience, this is just an elaborate player bashing thread?

We don't do those here.

She's making videos and music that people enjoy watching. No one's making you or anyone else watch them. If you spent less time worrying or complaining about what other people like and focused on what you do like, you'll be a lot happier.
