like the vast majority of old Thunderbirds, has a layer where the neck meets the head.

I’m gusssing “throat” is referring to sound or voicing - the new pickups/electronics.

“Has a layer” I think is referring to the headstock being broken and repaired like was mentioned in an earlier post.

The fun of google translate! Always amazing to me how two languages translate to each other.

I would guess "throat" means a structural repair where the headstock broke off the neck, and "layer" would be the finish repair.
