Acoustic 220 - enough for gigs?

Hi!

Thought this might be the best place to ask this question. Anyone knows if this bass head is enough for small gigs or is it more just for rehersal? I think its 160w or 220w? I found one in Sweden for like 200 eur, is this a good deal? I tried one of these in my friends rehersal place and I really liked the sound and punch of it!

I used a 150 with a 1/15 or 4x10 cabs for a few years and it was plenty for bar gigs with no pa support. I would think the 220 would be louder. Should be a good amp.

I gigged with a 220 with a 402 cab for more than a decade. For MY use, it was fine. They are loud for their rating, IMO.

I have to bring my big rig to all my shows at Shady Acres Senior Living Community. Tried to keep it modest at first, but they kept telling me to turn up. Said the people in the audience couldn't hear me playing.

A local bar has an Acoustic 134 on an Ampeg fridge for the backline and that 110 watt amp is insanely powerful.

A 220 in good working shape should have plenty of power for most "normal" situations. A lot will depend on the cabinet you pair it with, though.

The original 2x15" that was sold with these sounded like heaven to me, but these are quite heavy by today's standards.

They actually sold with two different 2X15 cabs, the 402 and the 406. The 402 I have is quite managable, the 406 was a beast!

Your cab is more important. 100 watts into a 410 will be a lot louder than a 110.

I used an Acoustic 150 for a long time into an old Guild/Hartke 4x10 it sounded great and kept up with a loud drummer just fine.

I can't remember how I got it, but I ended up trading it when I left NYC. I kinda wish I had kept it, but I have an old Peavey solid state head to scratch that itch these days.

Those old ss amps for a really bad reputation from some people, but I like their sound. With decent speakers, I think they sound great.

I use my ACC 220 and 406 2x15 cab with JBL K140's for outdoor gigs and it's plenty loud.
