Single 18, not 15s. It was so loud because of the horn design.

I knew 18's were involved...that does make more sense with it being a 1x18...I was wondering how 4 freakin 18's fit in a cab the size of a fridge cab...I got some wrong info somewhere down the line.....

How is the speaker installed? I've seen at least three variations in Acoustic cabinets over the years.

its installed in the back of the trapezoid shaped thingy. the drawings posted here are the plans i used to build it. Now i just gotta track down a cerwin vega 18" to throw in there

I believe he is talking about an old Acoustic cab that looked similar, but had 4 15's, with two firing into each other mounted horizonally at the center of the cab (can't remember the model number on that one... I believe it was associated with then 370 series of heads in the early 70's). Kind of a strange cab... weighed a ton, sounded 'OK'.

Traynor had two 8"s in the space where the blue panel resides. That would take care of it's mid/high deficiency.

Yeah, Cerwin Vega had a similar design with their horn loaded 18 (with a single 8" driver front mounted so you could at least hear some note definition. That would still sound like mush compared to today's cabs, but back in the day, it was an impressive cab, and meshed will with the low end attenuated and mid grindy/distorted solid state heads of that day (Acoustic, GK, etc.).

Thanks... couldn't remember. They put out another 'strange' cab during that period... If I remember right, it had multiple 6x9" drivers. Another awful cab, but sure was unique!
