Acoustic B100 on Fender P bass... Settings help

I am getting terrible muddy distortion on my fender p bass with my acoustic b100 amp..

What is the relation between gain and volume?

my settings are

Gain 10 oclock

Volume 12 oclock

Frequency 12 oclock

Low- 12 oclock

Low- mid 12 oclock

High- 1 oclock

High-mid- 11 oclock


I cant turn the low end higher because it starts to rumble terribly and im looking for a nice clean bass sound no distortion

IIRC Gain controls the preamp and Volume controls the power amp. Have you tried lowering the Freq. knob back to 0?

I have a nice sound out of my Jazz and B100 with the following settings:

Gain 10 am (less is better)
Volume 2 pm
Frequency 12 Noon
Low 9 am
Low-mid 10 am
High-mid 10 am
High 9 am

Basically, set all of the levels below Noon, and dial them down from there. Then bring up the volume.

I use the passive input, even though I use an active bass.
