Acoustic B600 or a Head & Cab?

Hey guys,

I have the opportunity to start gigging with a local band. They do use a PA, but I've not seen it yet. I was invited as of Sunday and am looking forward to getting to know their music.

I have no equipment other than a Fender Squire Dimension plus 5 string, which I absolutely love. I usually use a borrowed, small Ampeg when I play right now.

I have the opportunity to get a really nice Acoustic B600 for $300 (not the MKII), or I could use that money on a head and cab. I am trying not to break the bank but also get decent sound to carry a room if we play without a PA.

Which would you guys do, given my very limited budget?

Is it a 210 combo? Show us a link please. I see the B600C combo which is a good combo.

Ok that's not the B600 combo. I would read reviews on the Acoustic B450. Looks solid, especially for 300 bucks in near mint condition. My guess is you need to add an extension cab to get the full 600 watts but it's still a powerful combo all by itself. Only you can decide how much you want to spend.

Found a link to the specs and features. Personally I would grab it for that money. Might even be able to talk him down a few bucks.

Take into consideration that it is 71 lbs. For some of us, that kind of weight is a dealbreaker to transport.

Very much may be for me as I have RA...but I think this is the best option anyway cost-wise. My wife is my roadie, however...

Get a folding hand truck and wheel it around with one hand.
The full weight is only there to load and unload into the car.

Well, she's home and she sounds great. Haven't played it here yet but did in the seller's garage and it brought the neighbors out of their front doors, and that was not even at half gain. Super clean, punchy, good tone and...heavy. A bargain for the $300 I would say.

I play the new b600c and is a great sounding amp, but because is so heavy if you drop it it will break. Mine got loose from the hand truck and it mess up the cooling fan. I had to send it to warranty.
