Acoustic Image amps and Kay Bass

I have a 51 Kay m-1 upright bass and recently purchased an Acoustic Image Coda amp. I'm having trouble getting the bass sound I'm looking for. Can't seem to get rid of that "bonk" sound especially on the d and g strings. I use Innovation Golden Slap strings. I'm working on amp control adjustments when we play but haven't hit what I'm looking for yet. Any recommendations from IA users?
