Hey everyone, so I've had at least one suggestion come in from a manufacturer, Primacoustics.
They suggest for the room of my size, I should have between 70 to 95 square feet of acoustic room treatment.
That is for my room rounded to 16ft x 11ft x 9ft respectively.
My suggestion of going with the Acoustic London 10 Kit plus the Four Pack of the London Bass Traps is a great start as it would be a total of 76 square feet of treatment available. They did suggestion a pair of ceiling clouds over the listening area as well, which would obviously add to the coverage and include the ceiling.

I see now that panel placement is symmetrical, contrary to all that talk on the internet that brought on a lot of the rules from my original post.
Going with the square feet method of tackling treatments, since a 24" x 48" panel is 8 square feet, there were recommendations for me to use 10 of these panels by a local acoustic panel supplier. That's 80 square feet and meets exactly what Primacoustic's suggested.....but I know for a fact these panels would cost me less than London Kit and Bass Traps......but wouldn't give me all this pattern diversity. Would I really need all this pattern diversity? Probably not. This same local company also sells a 6-Pack of Acoustic Panel Insulation which is Roxul / Rockwool Fabrock 60 - 24" x 48" x 1.5" thick for $129.99 CAD. So no duty or added shipping cost because I can pick these up locally. Their fully assembled panels start at $75CAD and end around $115CAD each.
There's not a huge savings between 24" x 48" or 12" x 48", so this makes me wonder if I'm better off going with the larger size to start to test how the treatments go and maybe add smaller panels later.
