So I have a p bass which I might put in an active emg pickup into. Their will be no on board preamp or any of that. But I was wondering as my amp has only 1 input no active or passive input will this cause me any problems or is their anything to consider or worry about as far as damaging the amp. Thanks

Active p bass into amp without active input

Just because a bass is active doesn't mean it necessarily has higher output than a passive bass. EMG pickups don't tend to have killer output levels. At least in my experience. I've changed two basses from EMGs to passive and there was less difference in level then there can be between two passive pickups.
Even if the EMG has higher output then what you currently have, you can't damage the amp input. If you do experience input clipping, you can turn down the bass volume a bit. A good thing about active basses is that the tone doesn't tend to change as you turn down the volume knob.

ok stanks its just that i cut the main part of the pickguard to end up with something sklar like (its a cheaper p bass copy) and pulled out the ground wire but is not long enough to reach the volume pot so i think im just going to get the emgs being both a mega upgrade and solderless wanted to make sure i wouldnt be blowing up my little laney combo, so thanks a lot mate.
If the output from the EMG pickup should cause any issues such as distortion just turn it down a bit at bass. The EMG actives are designed such that they don't effect tone when the out level is lowered. If the amp has an input gain control that can be turned down as well.
I use EMGs and the only time I ever had a issue with overdriving an amp input was with the high and low gain inputs of my '63 Fender Bassman head. Turning it down at the bass was the solution.
