Active preamp frequency centers

Can not seem to find any info on the preamp frequency values posted on manufacturer site that translate that value to perceivable sound. There is 30 - 50 Hz for bass = how much of a difference is really heard? 4k - 10 k for treble = what kind of difference here? What kind of tonal changes can one expect by choosing one frequency spec over another (using say an ash bodied bass w/rosewood fretboard as equal palette for comparison)? Thanks

Hello,

I think the feeling of frequency can be gained by experience with different preamp. Especially when you have sweepable frequency respond on pre-amp(amp head) or pre-amp in bass. I can tell the difference between 250, 500, 800, 1.5k Hz of mid or 3k , 4k, 6k, 10k of treble.
Try to play more amp and have your own feeling.......
BTW= You can't exactly know how the preamp soung by 'looking' on the frequency as on-board preamp have its own sound, e.g. Sadowsky, bartolini tct or agliur obp-1, all have 40Hz bass and 4k treble, they all difference......

It really is something you can only know by experience. Otherwise it's like trying to explain color to a blind person. I am not being flip, either--I really mean that any written description would be useless, whereas personal experimentation and listening is pure gold.

not to mention the fact that a 50k boost on one bass into one amp can mean "deep powerful fatness", and on another rig can mean "total poo".
