active pups AND pre?

i was wondering if it is possible to have active pickups and active pre amp ¿?

the problem i can think of is that the pre can distort, but muy lakland has a trim control, so maybe attenuating the signal is a solution.

also, i need a cavity for the battery, right?

yes. It'll work fine, although you'd be SOL if the battery dies

I had an Acacia with active Emg's that were so hot it didn't need a pre. I bought a pre for it before i received the bass but after playing it decided that i might have too much of a good thing if i had added the bart. plus, the two battery thing that DMW mentioned is a pain in the arse.
