Active Rickenbacker?

there is no such a thing exists, except some individually modded ricks.

there was the model 3001 which had knobs for volume, for bass boost and one for treble boost. but without battery, so i don't think that its considered as "active"

Yeah I think that's what I'm trying to say. Is there anybody floating around on TB with one of those?

Now the question it do they still have the "Rickenbacker Growl" ... if you use Rickenbacker pickups then it will have a Rickenbacker growl. The sterile sound many active basses have is from the low impedance series humbucker pickups and a 2 band preamp. A bass like that will not have much if any growl. Rickenbacker pickups are either single coil or series humbuckers that gives the Rick its growl. Then if you use a 3 or 4 band preamp you will have growl.
