A few months ago, I started a thread asking if slap bass was extinct in r&b. Someone mentioned Adam Blackstone's playing on Jill Scott's Live in Paris CD. That person mentioned that Blackstone plays alot of fretless on it. I just got the CD last Saturday, and it is killer! He smokes on fretless and is great on fretted too. Between Blackstone, Gerald Veasley, and Gary Willis, Ibanez sure deserves alot more love than it gets!:bassist:

He's great on the latest Al Green CD too but not upfront as on the Jill Scott project.:)
 
I think he KILLS on that new Al Green album! What a groove . . .
I like his dark/muted tone on it (but I THINK it's a "modern" bass, dialed in for an old-school vibe)
When he does a tasty fill it just sounds so effortless . . .
