Adam Clayton Jazz

He played an Ibanez Musician on the early albums, when they did their best work IMO.

... Looking back at some early videos he also played a lot of vintage Fender Precisions back then.

dont judge from the video clips..anyway,I meant what he plays in recent years, not in 1980. I am not some U2 die hard fan,but from what I saw on their gigs, I've seen him mostly with Lakland and Fender jazz basses.

Love the way the Clayton Bass looks. Also love the new U2 album. Dig his bassline and tone on "Volcano". As much as I love all the Wootens, Millers, Pinos and Geddys of the world, there's something about Edge's riffs, Bono's melodies, and Adam and Larry's grooves that keeps me listening to these guys from Ireland over and over.

Hey now...I programmed the bass part for 'New Year's Day' into my Nokia 3310 back when that was a thing!

They clearly think that he has enough influence in the bass world to sell a few of these!

Ask Lakland, AC used to play a Lakland DJ in natural finish and maple neck with black inlays, people forgot that was a DJ and started calling that finish the "Adam Clayton" bass. To the OP, I really like the bass, I came across one that is on the 7-8 pounds range I will buy it in a beat.

That's the AC Lakland I'm talking about... that is actually a DJ Lakland. What a beauty.

I think it's sick. I love Sherwood Green and matching headstocks. I respect Adam's playing, but I wouldn't care if it was a Mickey Mouse signature, I think it looks cool as hell.

Unless you plan on ordering a true custom shop, or picking up a vintage bass, you won't find Sherwood Green on a Fender Jazz Bass.

Nice looking bass, but with the exception of cosmetics it appears to be an American Standard--same pickups, same bridge (doesn't mention if it has the graphite-reinforced neck)--at about $500 more than you would pay for an ordinary Am St new.

For that money I'd get a American Deluxe. It's nice to see historic Fender colors. I wish they would reissue more of them.

Could be worse. Go read all the Edge bashing on guitar forums.

Seriously! I've seen some of the Edge bashing, and it's beyond my comprehension. I don't like or agree with the Adam bashing, but at least I understand it.

Anyway, I think the bass looks fantastic. I'm pretty sure I'd love it, but I don't exactly need another J-bass.

I thought Adam was a P guy.
Well, since the turn of the century he's been a "whatever I get payed to play guy" this "Signature" Fender is really remaking his Lakland he was playing for a couple of years.
For that matter what does reality have to do with signature models (especially Fenders) - Sting's sig bass is a single coil P? Come ON he was known for his old orange Jazz a 3 colour 70s P and then like every other bass ever made. He just hhappens to be playing a vintage instrument he pickup after he stopped being relevant that he thought looked cool.
If Fender was interested in releasing interesting sig models that really people wanted they would have made a non-crapped-up production version of the Andy Summers Tele and Sting J and a Clapton strat that actually reflected something Eric actually played, a gilmour that mortals could afford... I could (and often do) go on.

Yeah, I know this is talkbass, but I couldn't agree more. In particular, what Fender is asking for the Gilmour black strat seems to border on the obscene. For that price, I'd better be able to hop right in and drive it to a gig.
