I like it

Doesn't he play a different bass every tour? Wasn't there a Warwick signature bass a couple years back? And a Lakland custom before that? I mean, it's not like a Jaco, Marcus Miller or Geddy signature model.

Yep, he's got a signature Warwick, Lakland, and now a Fender. He's trying to keep up with Robert Trujillo!

He never had a signature Lakland. He played Laklands and at one point some inline store (it might have been the old Dudepit) did a custom run of Skylines that were modeled after AC's bass but it was not labeled a signature model by Lakland or whoever sold them.

Those were the "original LOG" basses....Dan liked the idea and they sold really well.

Adam played a customized DJ bass....Dan was making him a gold metal flake custom JO bass....the thing played better than any Lakie I have ever played....and that is saying alot.

Long story short....Adam liked the bass just not the color....Lakland repainted it several times but Adam would not give specific guidance.....so he sent it back each time.

The story I got was that Dan sent the body to Adams tech and told him to get it painted and bill lakland...

That's a really pretty bass but for that price. Also I'm not really keen on him being put in line with Steve Harris , Geddy and every other artist that has a signature model. Because where most of these guys actually contributed something to bass playing and inspired people to play I don't really think that anyone can say the same about him. But that's all IMO ofcourse.

Hey now...I programmed the bass part for 'New Year's Day' into my Nokia 3310 back when that was a thing!

You're welcome to your own opinion, but Fender don't primarily make signature models to honour anyone, they make them to sell basses! They clearly think that he has enough influence in the bass world to sell a few of these. Some of those bazillions of records that U2 have sold were almost certainly sold to bass players...and those who were into U2 in the 80s and 90s are old enough now to spend big money on a bass!

He played an Ibanez Musician on the early albums, when they did their best work IMO.

... Looking back at some early videos he also played a lot of vintage Fender Precisions back then.
