add another cab?

I currently play a Peavey Mark VIII XP head into a Avatar Neo 212 4ohm cab.

The head does 350w @ 4ohm and 600w @ 2ohm. Right now, I'm close to running out of head room at rehearsal with my band because we're in a smallish room so the drummer (who's really loud) sounds even louder. Although, this weekend we played at a medium sized venue and since everything was mic'ed and I had PA support, I had my head turned only up to "3" (10 o'clock).

Soooo... should I add another cab for extra headroom, or will I be able to rely on PA support usually? My band has only played 4 shows so far, and this past one was the first with my new setup, so I'm not too sure what to expect in the future.

We're loud, no doubt, so I don't know if I should add a Neo 210 to the stack. And if I did, should I add an 8ohm or 4ohm cab? If I added an 8ohm cab I'd still be able to add another 8ohm cab one day if I needed to.

I'm just looking for some thoughts/comments/experiences to help with a decision. Thanks!

I'd either add another 212 or a 410, whichever, make it a 4 Ohm cab.
If you want a heftier tone, add another 212.
If you want a punchier tone, add the 410.

You're having problems in the small rehearsal room because it is a small room, and you're suffering from room cancellation modes. Lift the cab up so you can hear it. Enquire if drummer's lobotomy is reversable, if not insist he either buy plexi shields or lighter sticks. One shouldn't have to deal with hearing loss due to someone else's stupidity.

yea, IF i get another cab, it'll likely be a NEO 210. the reason I was asking about adding an 8ohm cab is because i have a 4ohm cab now and that would put the amp load at 2.6ohms which would probably draw close to the 600watts it does at 2ohms. this would leave me room to add yet another cab one day in the future if i felt the need to. i'd guess that the power difference between 2.6ohms and 2ohms would be hard to notice and i would still have room to expand even more.

any thoughts on that?
