Add tweet to 12/6?

I messed up when I ordered my LDS 12/6.
I thought I didn't want a tweeter because other cabs I had played with tweets were harsh and no good for me.
After getting my cab, which is awesome don't get me wrong, and playing it for a while I'm finding that I may want a tweeter to get the higher overtones that I need for my fretless.

Can I by a tweeter, drill a hole, pop it in and wire it to the 6" mid? Or is it more of an overhaul than that?

Yep....more complicated! You'll need to swap from a two way to a three way crossover.
Personally, I certainly wouldn't go to the trouble of doing all that. I can get enough treble from a good 6" driver for my tone.
Also, adding another driver to the cab (providing there's room) will affect the cab's tuning. Maybe negatively, maybe not.

If you have a variable attenuator for the 6", try turning it "up" a little. That will increase your high frequency level (as well as mids).

It's a huge project. What mid driver is in your cab? They're not all the same, many aren't much good beyond 4kHz. I've found that the Faital Pro 6PR110 and W6N8-120 go as high as most anyone really has a need for.

I don't remember what the mid driver is.
I think it's a Faital, but I don't remember what model.
I play flats so I didn't figure I would need a tweet, but when I use my amp with a Eden 2x10 (with a tweet) I sometimes borrow, I get better upper harmonics.

It sounds like I don't want to mess with modding the cab.
I'll find a different solution.

I'd drop the flats like a bad habit. If you're looking for fullrange tone you have to start with a fullrange source. IMO if God had wanted us to use flats he'd have stopped our hearing at 500Hz.

:)I tried rounds, not for me. I'm going to try some Ken Smith Compressors soon and see if that might work.
I use chromes and get good tone most of the time, but that's a "strings" discussion.

Thanks for the info about the cab.
