adding cabs to one 8ohm out?

i have an old valve amp with one 8ohm out and one 16ohm out and I want to add an extra cab for a bit more oomph. I have a splitter box that can be used in series or parallel so i was wondering if i could use that? ie have the two cabs go into the box with one lead going from the box to the amp. would i want to use it in series or parallel?
Both the cabs i would like to use are 8ohm and neither has a double socket on so i cant simply daisy chain them.
I hope someone can help me with this.

You need to give more information. Like, what amp? What's it's min impedance? What cabs, specifically? Answers will abound once you've cleared up the question.

It sounds like you could use the 16 ohm amp out to the splitter with it's switch set to "series".

its a 50 watt selmer 'treble and bass'. Dont know any more about the impedience other than it has one 8ohm socket and one 16ohm socket.
The cabs are are ashdown 1x15 s rated at 250watt and 8ohm

No Rick it's a head. A pair of EL34s driven by a handful of ECC83s with two channels. Brings back memories!

By the way I was just recently admiring your cab designs, they look excellent! I'd love to get the time to put a dr250 together someday
