adding distortion onto a amp!?!

  1. hey,
    i recently bought a portable amp thats like the size of a computer mouse, anyway it doesnt have gain or distortion. the person on ebay said i could easily distort it though, how do i do that?? thanks!

    You can overdrive it simply by turning it up louder than it can handle. So basically, just turn all the knobs to 10 and I guarantee it'll sound absolutely horrible. It may or not be an interesting sort of horrible. It's just a pocket amp so it's probably not ear shatteringly loud when turned up all the way.
  3. Alhough if you do that - it might be AMP shatteringly loud. I wouldn't. Search in the effects forum for some opinions of distortion pedals and get one. If you like it, when you get a bigger amp you can still use the pedal with the new amp.

    the seller's right, it's easy to add distortion to an amp... simply requires a 9V battery + cheap effects pedal + extra cable. problem solved. ;)
