Why does it matter so much that you need to put in your two cents? The topic of the thread has already come to an end. If I decide to use old parts, that my time, effort, and prerogative.

Any argument or debate about whether or not it's a good idea to repurpose old parts is a topic better off as its own thread.

Far from it. this has nothing to do with what the thread was originally about. Additionally, I don't enjoy seemingly being spoken down to in regards to what I may or may not do with the amp & its parts.

While I may be new to this forum, and to bass playing; I'm not some kid. I'm a 37 yr old man with kids & a wife, a job, and a long time love of music.

If I came off as "testy", then I apologize. I simply don't like being made to feel like I'm being judged as some "n00b" that doesn't know anything.

Just responding to YOUR comments and questions. If you knew the answers already, why did you ask the questions?

Nobody is talking down to you, just commenting on your statements and comments.

Thing is, as I see it, generally components are pretty cheap. Your time should be worth something to you especially with a wife and kids. Just buy the parts that you need. They'll be of better quality, last longer and cause far less trouble in the future. Caps have a voltage rating. Those used in a cheap SS unit would be nowhere near that required for a tube circuit.

Nobody here is talking down to you. We're simply trying to steer you away from a pile of frustration that you are heading for. You are not the first to come up with "unique" ideas and you certainly won't be the last.
