Universals don't provide the same isolation levels as custom molds, so you'll get some bleed from the stage. I advise not turning up to compensate for the difference.

Adding "space" to you IEM sound

Make sure you use a condenser mic for the room and not a vocal or instrument mic. That will give you more "3D" ambient sound.
