Supporting Membership
Benefits include the ability to post Classified Ads, avatars, user titles, and profile pics; increases PM limit to 500; attachment quota to 1.5MB, enables the ability to view/post in the Lounge Lobby

Gold Supporting Membership
In addition to all the features of a Supporting Membership: PM limit increased to 2000; 50MB attachment quota; Avatar size increased to 115x115 pixels, Profile picture to 300x300 pixels

Nowhere does it say that one of the "perks" for being a supporting member is to have an ad free screen.

It is expensive to run a site of this caliber. I doubt that the money generated from supporting memberships can cover all the costs.

Ad. Block. Plus.

Use it. Love it.

I'm using it and I still see some ads, like the google one featuring Victor Wooten's New DVD, Electric Bass Guitars, and the Aguilar Tone Hammer that's at the top of the page as I type this, or the WIN this Bass ad that's to the left.

I must be doing it wrong.

You are doing it wrong. Get an Adblock Plus subscription to EasyList. That will automatically take care of the majority and you can manually do the rest.

Sorry to sound like a buttocks here but... who cares? It's a great site full of cool people and interesting conversation, a great resource for anything bass-related. Does having ads displayed change any of that? No.

There are features in firefox that block ads, there's also software that you can get, nothing's fool-proof but may cut down on them a bit. Otherwise, relax, ignore the darn things and enjoy the site :)

+1!
I've also found some useful links in some of the ads.
They help keep this site running. I enjoy my time here, and didn't have to pay to visit. I did, gladly, and will continue to do so. I also let the ads run on this site and don't have my ad-blocker catch them. Paul put them there for a reason, and by blocking them, we're only hurting him and TB.

I take it that you use AdBlock, and do not update it with any ad list.

The ads aren't coded with "I'm an ad, block me". The software needs something to tell ads apart from the rest of the web page.

Aside from the reason that i HATE any and all advertisements:mad:

I spend alot of time on TB from my cell phone, when i am away from my computer.
As you can imagine, theres a lot of scrolling, and the ads just take up more space on the screen.

I think the ads are nicely placed on the pages. A small banner at the top, a small banner at the bottom, and a narrow column at the left.
It doesn't bother me, and from my computer I don't encounter annoying or inappropriate ads.

Although some ads aren't helping my GAS. :hmm:
