Adult first bass?

I'm in pretty much the same boat. Im 28 and really want to learn to play bass (no musical background). I'd say go the guitar center, check a few out, figure out what style (as far as looks/feel) then search craigslist and ask friends. You'd be surprised how many friends might say "I have an old bass in my basement". (I've picked up 2 cheap that way in the past month. I also picked up a working squier pbass on craigslist for $65. Oh and I'm also in Ohio, although a little north of you (Canton). Although I'm new feel free to message me with any questions.

Squier Vintage Modified Precision or Jazz bass. $279 new, and will last you probably until you're ready to gig. Maybe even longer.

Acoustic B20 amp pack. $159 new. Includes the amp, plus necessary extras like a tuner, cable and gig bag. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

With that, you're all set to learn.
