Well after 3 years I think it's time for a new look in the header :) It took me forever to do the graphics, and i 'outsourced' the new logo. This logo is vector-based so it can be blown up for use in magazines and event banners etc (the old logo was a useless low-res jpg).

If anyone has any issues with their browser not rendering things correctly let me know.

I'm sure some will not like the ad placement, but please try to give it some time. The actual page content (start of a thread etc), has not been moved down (well, maybe 2 millimeters) because the header has been compressed vertically from the way it was before with 2 rows of links. This new placement puts the ad in a much more valuable position, while still keeping it out of the 'meat' of a thread. And it's still just one header ad - much less than many of our 'big brother' forums use (www.avsforum.com for example).

Thanks :)

I just switched browsers to Opera. Apparently, its the most secure available.

However, with Opera, when I go to click on the quick links, the "free investment opportunity" ad is ontop of the quick links pop-up rendering it unreadable. I use this feature alot and hope this issue can be remedied.

thanks:)

Ah, I think I found what the problem is. With Opera under "view" > "zoom" you can adjust the fonts/icons etc to be 50% to 200% larger/smaller. At certain sizes, (such as default 100%) the ad blocks quick links and advanced search. But if you shrink everything to microscopic size you can "see" and the ad is no longer blocking the important stuff. Though it still does block buddy list and other drop down menu features.

I have two problems :

1. The left hand position of the BG player is "dubious" - thumb should "correctly" be placed in the centre of the back of the neck!! ;)

2. There is a bug with the advertising banner being where it is - on several occasions when I have tried to use the search function it is obscured by an ad which keeps re-loading over the top of the Search fields, meaning it is unusable...:hmm:

(Doesn't happens with all ads - just some - a question of luck)

This is an issue I've gotta deal with: The Flash ads that Google sends through are not 'transparent' and so they cover up the drop-down menus. I'll try find a remedy.

Hi Paul,

When using the search function, the window intermittently appears UNDER the banner add so you can not type in the box.

OS XP Home

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1

I've solved the Google flash issue - if you continue to notice the drop-down menu coming down underneath the banner ad, please tell me which ad does this. Thanks ;)

This should be fixed - Using the latest Opera browser I can now use the search/quicklinks dropdowns fine...
