I've been playing an Epiphone Accu bass Jr for years. Recently I bought an Ibanez Talman 100. The Talman kills my left (fretting) hand when I play it but the Epiphone never has and still doesn't hurt to play. I'm trying to determine what the difference(s) between the two basses may be so I can begin to figure out why one hurts and the either doesn't. But, I can't find the original specs on the Accu bass to compare to the Ibanez. I say all this to say I am in the market for a new bass and I want to make sure I buy a bass comparable to the Epiphone instead of the Ibanez. Anybody know how to find original specs on the Epiphone or in the alternative how can I get the two compared?

advice buying new bass comparing existing basses

The Accu-Bass is a Fender PBass copy. The nut width is 1.65" and if the rest follows suit it will have a little chunkier neck profile as well. I've never played one but I've played a ton of PBasses by now.
The Talman has a nut width of 1.6" so a bit narrower plus Ibanez are typically known for more slender neck profiles as well so a little more similar to the neck of a Jazz Bass which is narrower still @ 1.5".
Stumbo suggested setup which may also be a factor but if you want a newer bass most similar to your Epi then I would suggest a PBass or others with at least a 1.65" nut width and beefier neck profile.

Haha, I will bet that Ibanez is a 10 times better player than the Epiphone. The Ibanez needs a setup and strings similar in tension to what the Epiphone has. But, if you want to keep buying bassez to be unhappy with, be my guest.
That Ibanez is ridiculous for its price range. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it. A setup and new strings might be just the ticket
