I'd recommend a Tech21 Trademark 60.

About $550 new or $350 used. Lots of great tones and lots of very usable features. Light and easy to transport.

It's better than you think it should be.

It's a great amp, especially considering the price.
Lightweight, loud, and versatile.

Sold an all-tube Soldano and kept this one.

Also agree with Nashville Bill too. You don't need a huge stack or half stack to be loud. Especially if you want to get the natural distortion that comes from overdriving the power tubes. You get the tone at ear splitting volumes, or lose it to play at a moderate volume.

Last but not least
VOLUME IS MEASURED BY DECIBELS, NOT WATTS!!!
A 12W amp can be louder than a 50W depending on the circuitry and speakers.
If you want lots of watts play through a hair dryer or microwave oven.
