Advice how to repair?

Guitar center did a terrible job packing this bass so by the time it arrived, the tip of the headstock was sticking through the top of the box and sustained damage. Any recommendations on repairing it?

Can you spread the crack out enough to inject Titebond into it, then clamp it for a day?

I assume on the painted side that's a scratch and not a crack. In my world, if I really wanted that bass, I'd just ignore it. Other than that, the normal sandpaper, etc. and if it's a scratch, match it to the paint color with auto touch up paint or something like that. Maybe even a colored magic marker.

I'm pretty old and I stopped fretting about "minor" damage a long time ago. Perfection is the enemy of excellence. If the bass performs flawlessly, well, nothing's perfect. But to be clear, that's just me.

Easy fix. If you already got paid back a decent amount by GC then your are good.

Actually now that I have the tuner off it’s looking worse than I initially thought. The crack seems to extend into the hole. Might be taking it back again.

If you’re already satisfied financially, I’d suggest maybe you live with it for a while and see what happens. It’s quite possible nothing will, and if it does you can inject glue and clamp, as mentioned. Many vintage Fenders survive with similar tuner cracks that are stable.
If you decide to tackle the repair, spread the crack very, very carefully. We don’t know the qualities of that wood compared to maple.

1. because you can get a refund based on the damage
2. the damage is basically nothing
3. the damage doesn't affect the playability or sound of the bass
4. the damage is very easily fixed at near zero cost

Thinned Tite bond. You need to gently pump the crack open and closed and it will suck the glue deep into the inner areas. Clamp up. Ream the hole and the begin the finish repair. Thin superglue or epoxy may be a good choice too. I would ask Bruce.
