Hehehe.........WrongRobot still spreading the "Savage" love. That game is way too freakin fun.....now that I am actually good at it, it is even better.

Where do you play? and what's your handle?

I play On the Squadgames server(unless it's down or full, then I play on whatever is the biggest), my handle is "Scipio"

I dunno...I just pick a server that looks about half full and go for it. My handle is MJ5150.

ah, I don't think I've seen you around, did you get the full game or are you still rocking the demo?

one of my favorite things about savage is that it's a small and tightly knit community, but there is still a decent amount of new players, so it's still interesting.

I think I'm going to go play right now :hyper:

Yeah, I am still rockin' the demo. I was about to buy it a couple times, then I got distracted by other things. Now that Madden 2005 is almost out, I'll have to put Savage off again.

My friends P4 2.8GHz/HT with 1GB DDR PC3200 RAM, ATi Radeon 9800 pro, dual WD Raptors in raid-0...and DOOM3 looks pretty but still lags (quite negligably) but nonetheless noticeably.

:eyebrow:

I don't know what makes you say that but it's just flat wrong. I don't know about the brand new ATI vs. GeForce (but I've heard the brand new ATI can hold it's own) but ATI has always OWNED Nvidia up through the 9800 vs. 5900. No contest.

:eyebrow: :eyebrow:

My brother has been playing doom3 on low-mid settings on our gaming PC, it chugs along okay, not too well though. It's a pretty burly PC, it *was* top of the line 2 years ago, geforce 4600 w. 128 VRAM, 2.8 P4, 1 GB DDR ram.

Sure you can play it on 640x480 low quality, but there's no point in spending money on a game to do that.

Argh, d00d, that was the nerdiest post in this thread. :scowl:

I'm so un-hip it's a wonder my butt doesn't fall off.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Best post ever! [/Comic Book Guy] :D That's going straight to the pool room.

Seriously, if you wanna play a good game, try Prince of Persia. I dunno about it on PC in terms of gameplay, but I play it on PS2 and it rocks my socks. :D

Wow, that still sounds top of the line to me, but I think the new stuff comes out earlier in the US. If you are looking at a pre-made computer around here, you won't find anything with more than 512MB of RAM. That system would probably cost at least $1500 here.

That said, your computer must have some serious issues to not be able to run Doom 3 smoothly with those specs. That system should have no problems with the 'high' setting.

As for games I would recommend - try System Shock 2 (FPS/RPG) - it is 5 years old so the graphics are nowhere near as good as Doom3's (although good for the time it was released), but the gameplay and story are better, and it is just as creepy. I don't play much multiplayer so I can't recommend anything there, the only game I really enjoyed playing on the net was Ghost Recon.

it's only perk was sonic.

i can't decide whether the rumours of sonic being in the super smash melee thingie should be true or not.

I liked Sonic and Kuckles. I'da thought that "Lock-On" thing woulda been more popular. Modifying old code to play with new characters and change levels... seems like something that shoulda been bigger.

I've got an Athlon XP 2500 with a Geforce FX 5600 Ultra and 512 MB of ram, and it's running doom 3 on high detail at 800x600 VERY well, so you don't necessarily have to have a brand new totally top of the line computer. And it still looks absolutely amazing. Awesome game. I'd definitely recommend it.

Crap, I lost it today!

My current computer is a P3 1Ghz machine with 512mb of memory and GeForce 4 64mb. I´ve delayed upgrading this machine for a long time but I just could not hold it in any more, especially since Doom 3 is out and Half-Life 2 is coming out in september.

So, I went out and bought myself a:
  • Pentium 4 3Ghz cpu
  • Gigabyte GA-PE1000PRO2 - 2004 GT edition motherboard
  • ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb graphics card
  • 1Gb ram
  • 200Gb Seagate Barracuda hdd
  • A new computer case

I´ll use the sound card, monitor, cd drive and dvd writer from my old comp. I won´t get the motherboard until tomorrow so I´m twiddling my thumbs right now, well, not exactly, I just got Office Space on DVD delivered an hour ago :hyper:

Damn I´m looking forward to try out Doom3 and Half-Life 2 etc.

I considered the ATI x800 and the Nvidia 6800 cards, but they are way to friggin´ expensive right now...

Can´t wait until tomorrow!!! :hyper:
