Affordable 35 Inch Scale 4 String Bass

Hey guys I'm currently looking for a 35 inch 4 string fretted bass to buy, however, I can't break the bank too much. I currently have an LTD and I really don't like it, yet this seems to be the only bass I could find in a lower price range with a 35 inch scale, so if anyone has any suggestions as to other brand basses with a 35 inch scale in a decent price range, please let me know!

Also, I am planning to have this bass in C standard, and if anyone here thinks I can get away with that tuning in a 34 inch scale, also let me know that as well, because then I would be fine getting a 34 inch scale bass. Thanks!

+1 on the Peavey G-Bass and Millenium instruments.
These basses were *great* value for the money.
The graphite-neck G-Basses (which were bolt-on, actually...) were fantastic and can be found for $500 or less used. A new graphite neck alone will cost more than that.

Beyond that, I think the Dean Edge basses were 35" scale, but they are really not in the same league as the Peaveys in terms of value/dollar.

Cheers!
Martin

Ok these suggestions are pretty good guys, thanks!

If anyone could address my other question: can I pull off this low of a tuning with a 34 inch scale bass? I do prefer low action and a little "give" when I play anyways so maybe this might even be a better option? Or will the bass just sound better overall with the longer scale?
