Aftermarket hardshell case (for Rickenbacker)?

Here's a photo of my nearly complete Ric build in the Roadrunner case. The velcro strap and and trough for the neck keep it from moving around even though the bottom horn doesn't contact the case sides. Not a flight case by any means, but good enough for home use and light gigging. If you are wanting something for nightly gigs and a lot of abuse, I'd get an Anvil Flight Case, or one of the the Tolex Ric branded cases. I'll see if there's a model number on it, if not I'll just measure the case.
Looking forward to that model number. I've been looking for a case for my Mapleglo, but don't want to spend a million dollars.

There's no doubt that silver vintage case is beautiful. I am hoping to find a case that fits with a lower price tag. It is tempting though.

Yeah, this is less than half the price compared to the actual Ric case. I am not that much of a purist that I need to have a "real" Ric case for the Mapleglo. Or maybe I am, and I'll keep the Jetglo in the Roadrunner case, and the Mapleglo in the Ric case 
I had myself about 3/4 talked into getting the silver tolex case, but that's a mighty expensive stamped nameplate when you see identically constructed cases for $100 less. Not knocking Ric here, its a nice case, and they charge what the market will bear. If I had a brand new 4003 or a collectible vintage model, id probably go for it. Since mine is a clone build, I didn't want the Ric logo anywhere on it. What does irk me is the poor quality of stock Ric ABS cases. For an average of $1750 new, its reasonable to expect a better case. There are probably other cases out there that fit a Ric as well or better, but after digging through a pile of them at GC, this was the best fit available, and it seems pretty well made.
I bought a new rick in 2015 and the case is already quite cracked up. Someday i may get the silver one but oh well. Still a good bass.
Many boutique instrument builders (considerably higher in price than that of a new Rick) ship their instruments in gig bags, just saying.
Nothing wrong with a gig bag, but shipping a new instrument in a case known to break at the "feet" under normal use is kinda cheesy, just sayin.....
I'd say this is a perfect fit in a genuine Fender Jazz Bass hardshell case, bought from MF c. 2015. (Don't get the Pro series case, they are Fender specific.) The neck actually rests on the neck rest, and the peghead only shiftds about 1/4", same as a Jazz Bass does. I got equally good results in a 1975 Fender Precision Bass Case.
I bought a vintage 4001 case. I believe it was about $150?
Still has the stupid cups on the spine, but at least those broke off instead of punching in.
One of my prouder buys, all told. It's real wood, is actually repairable, and is actually worth repairing if/when anything happens.
It also has the form fitting plush which the reissue vintage case does not have.
Oh, and it STAYS OPEN.
