Sounds like a good excuse to ditch the stamped steel antique at the butt end of the instrument. My personal fave is the Gotoh 201.

Now don't laugh, this is serious. I have discovered that as there is no ashtray bridge cover on my P-bass, the saddle height adjustment screws snag on my woollen cardigan sleeves
That's a topic for a whole 'nother TB thread...prolly 20 pages or so.pps - i do wonder if the tape or other external fixes would affect your sound and/or mute anything or kill the resonance however.
Sharp saddle screws are just a problem Fender will never, ever address. Every other manufacturer's bridge is smooth as butter but Fender will just always have that issue.

This is very annoying as I have to spent ages poking the threads back in to shape, time that could be better spend on today's pedal board reconfigure. This wouldn't happen to a younger person I bet.
Would Loctite Blue 242 work? From their webpage: "Threadlocker Blue 242 is designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners which require normal disassembly with standard hand tools."
