My serious answer would be to replace the bridge. Gotoh 201 is cool but the thicker plate might prevent you from lowering your strings enough.

I would NOT recommend silicone for this (or for most other things people use it for - but that's a whole other thing)how about a little clear silicone caulk over the tops of the screws
Sounds like a good excuse to ditch the stamped steel antique at the butt end of the instrument. My personal fave is the Gotoh 201.
