Aggie amp problem..

Ok, so I seem to be having an issue with my aggie where when I turn the gain knob, I hear static. The static only happens with that knob and only when I turn it. Is this a sign of bad things to come? Should I try to send it directly to the manufacture or can it be repaired locally?

I love this amp, I just want to make sure this doesn't become a much worse issue.

Check that the tweeter on ur 412 hasnt somehow managed to be all the way up. also if yout treble and frequency knob is boosted as well as the tweeter I would say thats the source of your static.

Bad potentiometer, possibly. It might just be dust in it. Easy fix for any competent electronics repair tech. Shouldn't cost more than $25 or so to clean or replace (IMHO, of course).

I would just spray some pot cleaner into the pot.

agree with Supertanker. You don't need a repairman at this point...or at least until you try cleaning first.

I think I will pick some of that up and give it a shot. which product on that site would you reccomend?? I noticed several on there.

Edit: Sorry, the pic didn't show on my computer the first time I looked at it. I will pick some of that up.

As mentioned above...You want to make sure that the cleaner also contains a lubricant. Then take the cover off the chassis and spray the cleaner/ lube inside the pots. You will see some openings or slots that allow cleaner to be sprayed into the pot. It will be pretty obvious.

And FYI, to use the cleaner, you have to open up your amp and spray in the opening in the pot's back cover BEHIND the faceplate.

Yup. Look for the little square hole.
