I have been on and on about needing a new rig. Being pickey and having looked to upgrade to a new amp rig since 2009, I am way to pickey and I know it.
As you might know from a couple of my other threads I am now in desperate need of new gear.
I am open to anything that will work for my needs. I don't care anymore. It has to work.
With that in mind, I am turning to all TB for help..
My current/former working rig -
SWR Bass 750 (850w @ 2.67Ohms)
Schroeder Mini 12 (No Horn Eminence Dela 12)
Schroeder 1212 (Eminence Delta 12's 1" horn driver)
SWR Bass Monitor (Eminence Delta 12)
My band plays Grateful Dead. 6 Piece. 3 guitars (50+w amps each), 2 full trap drummers.
On stage volume runs about 110Db or so.

I want what I have except new. I have gone through 3 SWR's in 13 years. I have had my Schroeders for 11 years. All my gear is used hard. Very hard. Played for 3+ hours a night, put away into a trailer and driven back home. I have got to have new "Dependable" gear. I love my tone. It is perfect. But it needs to be replaced. I recently bought a DNA 1350 and DNS cabinet, but that is not working. I have used a WT-800 and a Navigator and did not like them. I have used a SVT-7Pro and it sounded a lot like the DNA and I did not like it..
Help me Obi Wan - you are my only hope... As you can tell by my ranting, I haven't a clue how to replace what I want with the new and impressive gear that is out there.

You dont like the DNA? Sounds too ampegy?

Really surprised you dont like eden stuff. have you thought about running an alembic pre amp into a high end power amp?

Maybe its the cab voicing from the schroeders youre used to?

Yes I do believe it is to ampeg-esk sounding. Actually I had a Eden years ago as a combo and disliked it. Sold it and bought a SWR LA15.
It is coming down to the Preamp/Amp thing. I just don't know what preamp other than a Grand Prix (I prefer not to go used) would give me the sound I want and have

Well, I am not completely certain my SWR is unfixable, but if it is anything like the last one, no it will not be fixable.
Will the GK give me the tone that I currently have with my SWR? Also, do they have something comparable in wattage?

The default GK sound is less scooped than the default SWR, but with the EQ, you can get them similar.

The 1001RB, 2001RB, and MB(F)800 are all comparable in power.

Don't like the front XLR, that voicing filter thing, and the biamp would not be needed ever, and the front mount tuner and FX in/outs. Not really made for racking and traveling with?? I would think. However, I am a leave my cables all plugged in all the time person

I honestly think the mid-heavy tone of your Schroeder stuff is going to cloud your view of whatever amp/cabs you get next. I would start there and see if you can get similar cabs first. No matter what amp you get if it is run through cabs that are "warmer" sounding than those (and in my view most are) you will blame it on the amp and not like the tone.

Oh I am fully willing and looking to buy a whole system. Start over completely. Like I said, I want what I have, just current and new. I have no idea how to do that. Yes, I am extremely fond of my mid heavy Schroeders and the SWR really plays well with that. Especially with my Modulus family. They seem to all fit into a very narrow catagory and I have to replace them.

Oh and I cannot start with cabs then find an amp. I blew one amp up and must find a replacement like yesterday. I have a fully working amp to replace it for now, but I need to update my gear. Moving away from my 12 year old speakers is not an issue, however, being able to find the sound I want is.

I saw a kind of shoot out with the Berg 112. Seemed like an ok sounding cabinet, but I think that it would also not work as a stand alone. Which is also ok since I plan on 2 cab's of some sort. Never heard of LoPhat and have not looked into the Glock's for a while. Off to check them out

If you like how you sound why change it? Get an SWR preamp (Interstellar OD or the Grand Prix) and a power amp of your choice. I had smaller version of your setup for a while: Schroeder 1210 and SWR 350X and it was great sounding combination. Actually, I think that particular combination was complimentary on the weak points of the individual components: eg. Schroeder being mid forward cab and SWR amps being mid shy.
In my personal experience Genz Benz Shuttle series amps can get you similar tonal range with a bit tweaking, but they do not have the SWR signature "beyond low" lows.

I use a WT800 and an Alembic SF-2 Superfilter.
The Alembic really shapes the tone and the amp has the power.
The cabs are Greenboy - a 15/6/1 and a 15 sub - and the cabs can take it.
I also play in a Grateful Dead band - THE ELECTRIX

I assume you will run DI through some Subs....That said, I gig hard all the time, ...I use a rack with a slave (have used a Mackie FB2500=too heavy) I now use a crown 1500 with a Eden navigator 100 preamp. I play through either an Eden 6x10 for bigger boom or a GK 1x15 cab for lighter venues. I am a big fan of "10's" as speakers but some times the cabs can be freakin heavy- especially some 4x10's. All of this is subjective. I love Eden, Mesa and Alembic. Good luck! and ... Rock On!

Jorges stuff is great isn't it? I have 212 something or other and it's so full sounding.

FYI as mentioned above a Glock might just be the ticket. I got mine from Schroeder with my cab. It had been a reference in the shop.

Together BIG FAT sound. It's filling.
