Aging an Olympic White bass

I once polished a scratch out of a white guitar with Meguiars #7. The scratch disappeared, that stuff really works miracles on scratches and dents if they're not too deep.

But, to my horror, the area I used it on turned a very light shade of yellowish brown, like an aged white. I had to use a little dab of bleach gel to return it to white.

Maybe a quick once-over with Meguiars #7 might give you the aging you desire?

Weld around it. TIG is probably the best process. MIG doesn't put off enough UV, and stick, while probably the brightest, spatters molten metal and slag all over the place which would probably burn your bass.

If you wear short sleeves you'll get a nice sunburn on your arms too.

I'm gonna reply to a few things here

1. I don't own a car, so I'm not to worried about that.
2. Space is a good idea.
3. I fully intend to use it, a lot. It's my bass. It's a beautiful instrument, that is a treat to play. I just want it yellow quicker cause I think it looks pretty.
4. Everything I read said sunlight, so would one of those sad lamp uv lights help? If I don't expose the sides evenly will half yellow to quickly?

It's in the shop now getting set up with some la bella flatwounds, pickup covers and a thumb rest. Pics to follow.

How deep are you trying to "yellow" it? I was wrong in saying that poly wouldn't age. It will, but not into a yellow. At least not for a long time.

If yellow is more what you're going for, you'll be waiting along time. There are examples were fender stopped using Nitro clear on white because of the yellowing. Those guitars without the clear are still kind of white. Maybe more cream in color from aging. Polly is supposed to be more UV resistant. Not saying it wont age, plenty of examples were it did on your thread, but don't know how much you want it to age.
