Agree to Disagree

I've learned much about myself by disagreeing with people. I'm racist, sexist, arrogant, have a sense of superiority, am passive aggressive on internet forums, think I know everything, argumentative, am a dang Yankee, and a grumpy old man. Now I'm finding out I don't express myself, I never want to discuss anything and don't care what others think. Wonder what's next ? :D

The only time that phrase bothers me is when someone uses it to justify a position that disagrees with actual facts. Sadly, these days, there are far too many people who think that they can disagree with facts, and that their stance is just as valid, and deserves as much weight as undisputable evidence.

"Dustin Hoffman starred in Star Wars."

"No, he didn't."

"Okay...we'll just have to agree to disagree."
