(So I am a guitarist but recently bought some bass gear and this forum has been helpful...)
I have owned my Mark Bass Little Mark III for a couple of years now and play from time to time being a guitarist. But it started giving me some problems "cutting out" which got me in the mindset to fix and sell it. But... My awesome local tech fixed it, a $2 cracked resistor, (labor was not $2).
So, then I planned to sell the Markbass and replace it with an Aguilar AG500DC 1x12 I bought.
Well... I really like the Aguilar a lot, and it is very, very different from the Mark Bass - like not even close in tone and feel! Of course, my cab set up is very different, but it's obvious the speakers work best with their own brand as I tried all configurations.
My dilemma is keep everything? or selling the Mark Bass rig and get some space back in my studio and free up some funds? But...the Markbass really pounds out the lower end stuff, and the Aguilar sounds way tighter. The Aguilar does not have a lot of headroom however...
If adding a Aguilar 1x15 would deliver the bottom end I am missing with the Mark Bass, then I would be set with the Aguilar A500 rig!
Any thoughts???
