Aguilar DB112s vs. Berg CN212

Ok so, I've been researching my hind-end off this past week because I can't narrow it down. I can either do 2 DB112 NTs OR a Berg CN212. My current head is a Tone Hammer 500 head. I'm playing a 5 string Bluesman jazz-style bass into a pedalboard (VP>tuner>TLC comp.>Tonehammer pedal>sans amp prog. bddi. I mentioned what was on my board to say that I have some tonal/eq abilities). I love old school rock type sounds. Essentially tubes with a sealed cab is what i love (think svt into 810--->) and I play stuff like Jesus Culture, UNITED, etc..(And I'm 6'3" so a 410 is out of the question. Need taller stuff) What are the direct differences between these two cab options? I'd like volume and to not be lost in the mix please

PS-I should mention that I've been GASing for a Streamliner 900 to trade my tone hammer with, will these cabs sound good with this head as well?

Any particular reason you decided to narrow down your search to just these two makes/models? Is there something in particular you feel they have in common, that would make such a comparison sensible?

To put it simplistically, the Aguilar DB NTs are going to sound quite old school lo-fi - especially since they don't have a tweeter, and extend to only about 3 kHz, if memory serves.

By contrast, I believe you'll find the Bergantino CN to sound much more modern & hi-fi. Not really a straight-up comparison, IMO...

I had been reading review after review and it sounded like it was very mid-centered cabinet that would do well. A 212 design is my favorite and I needed something that was vertical. Like I said, I enjoy the classic SVT into 810 sound, would the berg be disappointing? I figured I could always dial the tweeter down or off if I needed to. I figured it was worth a shot to see since it's so close to my price range.

I've owned several 410's.

I love them but they are too heavy for me these days.... I'm 6'4"


I now play a CN212, and it sounds great on every gig.

I have both of these setups(kind of) I have an Aguilar DB112 but it has a tweeter(always used it with the tweeter off). It sounds like the Aguilar is what you are looking for with the exception of the height. They are wider than they are tall and two of them won't be as tall as the CN212.

I love the CN212 but I've never thought of it as an old school rock sounding cab.

IMO either cab would perform great with either head it's just whether or not it was the sound you're going for.

+1 The CN212 and the DB112's are my two favorite boxes, and are somewhat similar. The CN212 is more meaty in the low midrange than the DB112 stack (which is a bit more mid mid present). The tweeter is a thing of beauty with the CN212, and dialed down a bit, the CN212 does a very nice job of vibing a kind of 'vintage versus modern' sort of tone.

If you were really grinding overdrive, my choice for that would be the Baer ML112 's (or, for a single cab solution, assuming you had decent wattage at 8ohms) the upcoming Baer ML115. Much in common with the CN212, but with the top end being a bit more 'friendly to overdrive' than the CN212.

I keep coming back to the CN212 because it's so light as well. It's bit to early to say, but idk how I would have the tweeter on if at all. And the only overdrive-type effects I use would be svt setting on my sansamp. Btw, thanks everyone for the support so far!!

The CN212 tweeter is very musical and relaxed. The top end of the CN212 sits kind of between the DB112 and the DB112NT or whatever it is called (the one way box). The CN212 with the tweeter at 9 will vibe an old school type box very nicely up top IMO and IME.
