Double Bass Aguilar DB924 on Palatino

Hi again, I have the option of one of these-Aggie DB924 pre amp- at a good price, & was wondering if anyone had any views on 'em as using it instead of the stock P.O.S. pre in the Palatino EUB? Was gonna rip out tje stock one & plug straight into the Ag.DB924???????

My advice would be: Record the same bass line three times with flat eq and the same level on everything. Once with the original preamp, once with both and once with the db924 on it's own. Leave it a day before you decide and then listen back and choose which tone you like the best.
Its diffucult to really be objective while you are actually playing an instrument at the same time as listening.
Make sure that you listen back at the same volume and always keep the original preamp.

I've used the db924 quite a bit, with EUB and EBG. Usually, I leave the tone controls off, once in a while I'll boost the low about three clicks, if the situation calls. So I think that it's a good pre to use with EUB, since the 10meg input impedence gives alot of headroom.

Not so sure about mounting it on an instrument though. I'd shy away fromthat. I leave it on my pedalboard and power it with an external power supply, by using two 9 volt battery adapter cables (18v) into a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Supply. Just can't stand using all those alkalines. I ended up with about 20lbs worth of half used batteries to take to the recycle.......

The Aguilar doesn't sound as good with my acoustic bass, not sure why. So I don't use it for that situation.
