Aguilar Fuzzistor- Everything I hoped it would be

Being a fan of all things Aguilar, I had high hopes for the new Fuzzistor pedal. There are many fuzz pedals that claim to not lose the low end, and some do this successfully while others do not. The Swollen Pickle does a great job of keeping the low end and the sounds are incredible, but I find it difficult to dial in a mild fuzz setting. I received my Fuzzistor yesterday and could not be happier. As has been stated in some of the videos and description, it really does go mild warm fuzz to gnarly, all while retaining the low end. The blend knob is key as is the tone which only affects the fuzz tone without thinning out the clean signal. The low end is truly retained as it is with the Swollen Pickle, but the Fuzzistor seems to have much more versatile/usable fuzz for what I'm going for. Anyone else try it out yet?

I must resist the gas, last thing needed is mo' fuzz. Have been eyeing the MXR Bass Fuzz but suspect that it will be more of a rat, my preferred flavor is more classic fuzz face. Austone Fuzz Nutz TexTone is my holy grail.

Otoh cannot gig my fave as it is a target for thieves. Been using the B3 for fuzz needs but am beginning to rethink my whole "must fit on F16" setup, too many goodies to leave home.

I hope to post clips in the next few days. This video from NAMM does a good job with some of the sounds if you haven't seen it. I'm just happy to finally have fuzz that has a wide range of fuzz sounds without sounding like a buzz saw with no bottom at the extreme settings.

Got mine Friday, used it last night on a cover band gig, was awesome. Didn't have too much time to play with it before hand but was easy to dial a usable sound. I play in a three piece and have a lot of sonic space and it sounded good in the mix per a couple people out front. Guitarist and drummer really dug it, used it on a couple of solos I take Watching the Detectives being one, and used to create some synth lines for Too Close, Radioactive and the intro to Free Bird :bassist:. Fuzzistor> OC2 > Grove Regulator.

I'd love to hear a recording of Watching the Detectives with fuzz, that's such a great bass part. One of my favorites from him, too bad he and Bruce Thomas have such a sour relationship.

Here is a quick demo I made of the Fuzzistor to give a rough idea of what it sounds like. I recorded the same line 8 times ranging from bypassed to all knobs maxed out.
1st pass - bypassed
2nd pass - BLEND 9 o'clock; TONE 9 ; FUZZ 7
3rd pass - BLEND 9 ; TONE 9 ;FUZZ 9
4th pass - BLEND 10:30 ; TONE 10:30 ; FUZZ 10:30
5th pass - BLEND noon; TONE noon ; FUZZ noon
6th pass - BLEND 1:30; TONE 1:30 ; FUZZ 1:30

More gated than I expected. Kind of gives me a bit of the TAFM vibe. It's definitely more of a sputtery fuzz than a creamy muff like one. Sounds interesting.

I agree that the demo might have sounded better with a real or simulated speaker, but I wouldn't want a speaker sim on a fuzz pedal. I'd rather send full range to my tweeterless cabs and deal with speaker sim if needed with a preamp/DI at the end of my chain.

Clip sounds great, mine better hurry up and get here, fingers crossed it doesn't get delayed at customs!
