Got any plans to try out the Aggie 70's?
I'm sure a whole lot of people here would love to hear your opinion on them, especially how they'd compare to the antiquity IIs.

The 60's ones have been in my 70's Jazz Bass for a few months now and I LOVE them. I gave them my original pickups (which had become too microphonic for the crazy amount of gain and processing I use with Nerve) to use in the development of the 70's set, but I don't have a bass to try them in... I'm thinking of building a parts bass or a frankenjazz to put them in.

I went ahead and placed an order for the 70s set. Kinda wondering how different they would be from their 60s set.
I've composed a video showing and exhibiting what the Aguilar pickups sound like so if anyone was interested, here is the video

I tried both the 60s set and the 70s set on my 78 jazz bass. The 70s set was grindier and with more highs and lows than the 60s set. It sounded very very close to the original pickups that came with my bass but a bit clearer. The 60s set sounded kind off thin on that bass but sounded perfect on my mim fender standard. Both sound amazing!
I have the 60's P set and the hum-canceling J set sitting in a box waiting for installation into their respective basses, I'll weigh in sometime next week when I finally get around to putting them in!
Got the 60's P pickup put in tonight! My initial thoughts after the first night of playing time:
Holy moly, clarity. Definition. Articulation. Didn't really expect that! I've been used to what I now realize was an overly woofy, muddy tone that didn't have any definition to the notes.
Don't get me wrong, this won't turn your Pbass into a rippin lead guitar solo machine, that's not what it's meant for. But it will put you right in that sweet spot of deep throbbing Pbass goodness, while giving each note a great clarity and sustain (even with my old flats still on it!) it's really a wonderful tone, very lo-mid heavy, great Pbass "snot", and a great rich "hollow" tone to the note. It is such a vintage sound, really round and groovin
The evenness and balance from string-to-string became very clear, and much welcomed. No more woofy notes on the E or A strings, even double-stops up high can hang with a droning open E because the pickup is so well balanced.
I also put in an Emerson Custom hand wired vol/tone kit, with a great tone cap mod and some NOS vintage goodness in those pots. It sounds like a new bass with new life and so much tone!
Like I said, it's like a new bass. It will certainly take some getting used to (I'm not used to this much tone out of this P, it was previously just a woofin, groovin, low end machine. Now I think it will sit in ALL mixes better with a more balanced overall sound that will enable my 2013 Pbass to cover for a vintage axe any day)
It just makes me want to take the top off the jeep, turn on the AM radio and groove!
