JK, after hearing you play I can hear how the big Aggie's voicing would tickle your fancy. Hell, I can see how that sucker would tickle just about anyone's fancy come to think of it. Most of the times I've used a db750 on stage it was through a 112/210 combo. I think that I used a 115/210 once but that was a loooong time ago, and my memory may very well be mistaken. Both of those setups had enough booty that I was cutting lows. Then again I know you like more fundamental than I usually use. The 112 and 210 seemed to balance very well also. Downside to that setup would be needing to always bring both cabs to every gig. I think that an Aggie 112+210 all in one cab would kill. Of course, just because the 210/112 combo works doesn't mean that a 212/410 combo would be comparable.

Bottom line: never having used either Aguilar's 410 or 212, I really have nothing to add to the conversation and am just shamelessly chalking up another post count. Good luck getting it ironed out.

Thanks for your input. You've been very helpful. Despite what I posted about the 412, I very well might just take up an offer to me tonight made by the local bassist who snagged my 412 off me. He heard my GS410 tonight (last night I guess....God look at the time!!!) and loved the tone and the fact that it was lighter and smaller. Apparently the 412 was too much cab for what he wanted to do, and was underpowered by his Mesa Walkabout head. So he proposed we trade cabs back with a little cash thrown his way.
I just might take him up on this too....That rig is friggin monstrous, and I could always get a 210 or a 112 later for smaller gigs.

The way I understand it:

An 8 ohm 4x10 and an 8 ohm 2x10, run from a mono amp, will present a 2.6 ohm load (safe on any solid state amp that is 2-ohm approved). The 4x10 will recieve 2/3 of the power and the 2x10 will recieve 1/3 of the power. So say your 750 is making 900 watts, thats 600 into the 4x10 and 300 into the 2x10 ... every speaker in the array sees the same power and you've got a bad ass little rig

For little gigs and practice you can run just to 2x10 (if you're careful to keep the volume down), you can run the 4x10 for normal gigs, and both cabs when you want more output and more bottom end.

Works out pretty well with a stereo amp too, though you usually have to keep the volume a little lower on the 2x10 in that case (just look at power specs on stereo amps ... they don't put out 2x the power into half the load).

Thats the exact setup I see in my future, except I want the DB series cabs.

I know, and I greatly apologize to you and all the Tfunk devotees who are somewhat like Masons in your love for the amp, secret handshake and Mystical tonesettings included. Still a great head. When Dave funk drops a 1000watt version with a real tube in the pre, I'm there again, 100%

I've been guilty of this too, often after being jealous of MunjiBunga's 100 million or so posts.

I will say that in those times where I've had to run seemingly disparate ohm ratings with misc. cabs, big daddy Aggie handled it all night without overheating or actin up at all.

Pickles and I messed around with this rig last week. I wish we had a few more hours to jam because Pickles has a cool laid back groove. This rig fills up so many frequencies and can do many different tones by adjusting the mid control and flipping a few switches. 750 didn't even get hot after two hours of playing at 2ohms. It was so loud and I never got past 9:00 on master.

I'm pretty GAS free in terms of amps. I'd like a stand alone Neo for small gigs.

You started it since the db sounded a bit better with your 750 than with my M-Pulse, then I was checking out a GS412 I just bought with the sellers DB750 and that was mind blowing. There is some kind of crazy synergy in that setup.

Thanks for the reply. My thoughts on having the 212 was that if I wanted too, I could also use it seperately for a completely different sound. Its good to hear that its not a totally crazy idea.
By the way, has anyone traded in their GS410's for the newer DB410's, and if so, what are the differences?

i'd get the 212 for versatility.

the DB doesnt have the enveloping bottom end of the GS series, rather a more hammer like rounded midrange. great for rock, but IMO, not very versatile.

The only time I've gotten to play a 750 was at a GC with a 410 and 212 on top.

I have to say honestly, as a staunch opposer to all things 10"-related, I would buy that stack, no matter the cost. Un-effing-real was the words to describe it.

You can't miss on this setup.
